Firearm Transfers

Bought a gun online, at auction, or from someone out of state? It goes to a licensed dealer near you before you take it home. That is what we do here.

How it works

1. Tell us it is coming. Email or call before the gun ships. Let us know who is sending it, what it is, and roughly when it should arrive.
2. Have it shipped to us. We give the sender everything they need. Our license number is 4-34-035-01-9H-09666.
3. We let you know it landed and set a time that works for you. Everything here is by appointment, so you get our full attention.
4. Come in and finish up. You fill out the federal form, we run the background check, and once it clears the gun is yours. Take your time looking it over before you sign.

What to bring

• A current, unexpired government photo ID showing where you live. In Ohio that is usually your driver license or state ID.
• A document showing your current address if your ID shows a previous one. A vehicle registration, a voter registration card, or a valid hunting or fishing license all work.
• Active-duty military stationed in Ohio: military photo ID plus orders showing your duty station.
• Payment for the transfer fee and any background check fee.

What it costs

• Standard transfer, $30 per firearm.
• First responder and military, $20 per firearm. Active and retired law enforcement, fire, EMS, and military. Bring your credentials.
• Suppressor or other NFA item, $100 each. This covers receipt, registration, and the paperwork on our end. The tax stamp and any fingerprint or processing fees are paid separately to third parties.
• Several firearms in one shipment, $30 for the first and $20 for each additional. First responder and military pricing stays $20 each, however many arrive.

Payment is due at the time of transfer. A 3 percent surcharge applies to credit card payments and is shown to you before you pay. Cash and other non-card payments are not surcharged.

Who can receive one

Ohio residents, 21 and over for a handgun or 18 and over for a rifle or shotgun, who pass the federal background check on the day of pickup.
